You can also have lots of fun doing a swimming party. You can do this in your house's backyard. If you have a swimming pool better. But if you don't you can buy an atificial swimming pool. Decorate the back yard with paper palms trees, flowers and even put torches.
Of course can´t miss hawaiian music at your luau party. You can also buy paper plates and provide the guests with glue and paper goods. Later they can decorate the plates however they want. After this is done you can arrange a hula hoop contest and give out luau posters , luau paper goods or any other luau accessories to the winners.
After the swimming time you can give some tropical fruits to your guests. They can put these fruits on their decorated plates. If you have enough space at home, you can rent a tropical movie. This will knock most of the girls out for the night.

Luau Party Idea #3 Hawaiian Names
I had a my 13th party as a luau. There is website where you type in your name and it translates it into Hawaiian. I did that for all of my guest name and wrote it on thongs(shoes:) and put strings around the thongs and my guests wore them as necklaces...the whole night we called each other by our Hawaiian names...it was pretty cool! Luau Party Idea #4
How about a luau party under the water. You can decorate indoors as the under the ocean place. And the backyard can be the beach decorated with torches, palm trees, etc.
Cosist your food of finger sandwiches cut into the shape of fish. You can also make other type of foods and give them the shape of sea animals.
For the indoors decoration you can replace the light bulbs with blue light bulbs. You can buy some fish shaped balloons and a blue table cover. You can use some shells as the centerpiece of the inside tables.
For the outside you can use some towels as part of the decoration. Let children play limbo, pass the coconut even sing karaoke. They will sure have a good time. Meanwhile adults can have fun with other party games.
You can also take pictures at your luau party. Later you can send some of the pictures to your guests.
